Many people may assume coffee is not the best thing to have every single morning. Coffee has a lot of misconceptions like being associated with weight gain and caffeine crashes. However, the reason so many have that idea is because they often have plenty of sugar and creamer in their cup. When there is no nutritional value, of course, it won’t do you any justice.
We all love having our caffeinated beverage in the morning, so we had this great idea to develop a recipe inspired by Dave Asprey’s Bulletproof Coffee. Bulletproof coffee claims to help with energy levels, improve cognitive function, and feeling satisfied due to the high content of healthy fats. It is typically made with brewed coffee, MTC oil or coconut oil, and grass fed butter. With this in mind, our goal was to create a healthier version of a yummy chocolate cup of coffee with great overall benefits.
What you’ll need:
- Coffee Maker
- 1 cup of brewed coffee
- 1 scoop of chocolate collagen protein powder
- 1 tbsp of unsalted grass fed butter
- 1 splash of nut milk
- 1 tbsp of Olivo Amigo extra virgin olive oil
- Dash of cinnamon (optional)
- Brew 8-12 ounces of coffee
- Place the coffee and all ingredients, except the cinnamon, in the blender. Mix on high for 20-30 seconds.
- Pour into cup and top it off with a dash of cinnamon and/or drizzle extra virgin olive oil
- Stir and enjoy
We have replaced the MTC oil with extra virgin olive oil and added a protein powder for added benefits. Extra virgin olive is rich in healthy monounsaturated fat and loaded with polyphenol, which can help with fighting diseases, boost brain power, aid in digestion, and has anti-inflammatory properties. This cup of coffee may be different from what you are used to, but trust us, it is so much healthier than the ones you go out and buy! Remember to use all of your favorite coffee beans, protein powders, and nut milk to customize it to your liking.
