All dinners are paired with a drink of your choice. But when you worked so hard to do the cooking and preparation for a meal, who says you have to wait for a drink until it’s meal time? Keep reading in order to see what drinks we think are the best tp sip on while you cook dinner!

Gin and Tonic

This drink is a classic for a reason! This simple recipe of 4 oz of tonic water and 2 oz of gin and garnish with lime is light but still gives you the nice tasty flavor and aromatics of gin. This is a perfect refresh on a hot day to sip by the barbecue, stove, or wherever dinner may take place!

Spritz

Bring the Mediterranean to your own kitchen with this Italian classic. Originating in Northern Italy, this aperitif (meaning drink to stimulate the appetite) has champagne or Prosecco, aperol, and a splash and soda water. Add an orange for garnish (in Venice they add a green olive) and enjoy!

Wine

This explanation is simple. If you’re looking for a good drink but aren’t looking for a drink with a recipe, pour yourself a simple and classy glass of wine. Red, white, or rosé, we don’t judge! If you are making a sauce or a marinade just pour some wine into the recipe too!

Sangria

This is another drink that won’t disappoint! There are so many sangria recipes out there, but the basis is just wine, brandy, and any fruit you’d like. The more popular sangrias are red wine based, but white wine sangria can be a light option as well. And the best part is that alcohol infused fruit you get at the bottom of your drink!

Spiked Seltzer

These drinks have been all the rage the past few years, and for good reason! Seltzers are usually made with sparkling water with a hint of fruit flavor and spiked with malt beverage, vodka, or beer depending on the brand. Almost every alcoholic beverage company has a spiked seltzer drink and now some are adding lemonade or tea to their drinks. Just crack open a can and enjoy!

We hope this post gave you some ideas of what to drink before your meal. Whether you’re cooking for a massive party, small family gathering, or even just for yourself, you deserve a drink! Let us know what you drink on our instagram @yourolivoamigo! Cheers!
